Betty Wilson is a local artist and former software engineer/mathematics teacher originally from Longview, Texas. She has been painting in watercolor since 1988 and has been teaching watercolor since 1998. She believes you can learn to paint in watercolor whether you are 18 or 80. Betty uses a fun and unique “You Can Do It” approach to teaching. Topics include painting and correcting techniques, tools, shading, texturing, backgrounds, and color. |
“My greatest joy in painting comes from making new creative discoveries and from sharing these discoveries with others. Teaching will always be my passion. From the beginning, watercolor has been my medium of choice because of its spontaneity. The process of creating a new painting is exciting, fun, and full of drama and intrigue. It is like solving a great mystery or reading a good novel, only I get to write the storyline.” |
ART TIPS FROM BETTY WILSON
*Got drips and spills on your watercolor paper? Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser – found in the kitchen aisle of your local grocery store. Place a few drops of water onto the Magic Eraser & gently massage the stain; blot with a paper towel.
*Need a tiny bit of color on the stem of a flower? Dampen the stem with clean water; using a watercolor pencil and a piece of sandpaper, gently sand the pencil onto the stem; blow away the excess color.
