Who can take the GED test?
Persons 18 years of age and older may register for the GED test.
Age Waiver Information
A candidate for the General Educational Development (GED) Test shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of examination. However, individuals who are at least sixteen (16) years of age may under extraordinary circumstances and with parental approval take the GED Test to qualify for a State of Florida High School Diploma. Current Florida State Board of Education regulations shall govern the administration of this program.
GED Diploma Options
Students who successfully pass the GED will be eligible to receive a State of Florida High School Diploma. Students who successfully pass the GED will not be eligible to receive a standard District high school diploma and, therefore, will not be eligible to participate in regular high school programs and extra-curricular activities, including athletics.
